Maurice J. Carpenter, of Tampa, Florida passed away suddenly at the tender age of 48 on August 10, 2024. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024, 5:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
Maurice “Reese” was a loving husband, dedicated father, and grandfather. He was a thoughtful man with impeccable integrity, a loyal and kind friend, a mentor, and an encourager to many. He was a cherished partner, affectionate father, an adored grandfather, a devoted reader, and an avid ‘pool guy’.
Maurice was born on July 27, 1976, to Jay B. Carpenter and Flossie Freeman. He was the second youngest of five children. He grew up in Freeport, New York and attended Freeport Public schools. At the age of 15, he met the love of his life, Teonni Carpenter while attending Freeport High School. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1994 and subsequently graduated from the University of Phoenix with his Associates Degree. Post graduation, Maurice continued his work as a Claims Adjuster, alongside his proudest role as a husband, father, and grandfather. In his early years, he moved to Virginia before planting his family roots in Wesley Chapel, Florida. In 2006, Maurice married his best friend and beloved wife Teonni. Maurice had a fierce and abiding devotion to his wife, children, and grandchildren. His life was full of love and lots of laughter. Maurice’s greatest pastime was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Maurice is survived by: his devoted wife, Teonni Carpenter; his seven (7) beloved children, Tasiem (Chassity) Carpenter, Tatianna Carpenter, Alexis Carpenter, Kyra Carpenter, Jabbar Carpenter, Meagan Carpenter, and Madison Carpenter; ten (10) loving grandchildren, Tyshawn Carpenter, Aiden Carpenter, Zaria Carpenter, Olivia Carpenter, Justin Worthy, Kylie Worthy, Caleigh Carpenter, Prince Worthy, Toriah Carpenter, and Raven Carpenter; adored brothers, Dion Horsey, Jamie (Todd) Parrish, Carlton (Terri Ann) Turner, and Brandon (Kirrelle) Freeman; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and treasured friends.
Maurice is loved and leaves many cherished memories with his family. His memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him, and his impact on the world will continue to resonate through the lives he touched.
