Mr. Michael Dupree Obituary

Mr. Michael Daniel DuPree, of Palm Harbor, Florida, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Revealing Truth Ministries Church, 5201 N. Armenia Avenue, Tampa, FL 33603. Services will be eulogized by Mr. Steven Barnes, Michael’s nephew. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Michael Daniel DuPree was born on August 6, 1957, in Tallahassee, Florida, to the late Mrs. Ola Mae DuPree and Mr. Sam DuPree. His birth was memorable, as he was one of three babies born that day to Ola Mae DuPree. A native of Tallahassee, Michael was educated in the Leon County public school system, attending John G. Riley Elementary School, Griffin Middle and Bellview Middle School and graduating from Amos P. Godby High School. Michael was awarded his Bachelor of Science degree after majoring in Journalism from the University of Florida.

It was during his high school years that Michael discovered his passion for football. His talent, discipline, and quiet determination carried him to the University of Florida, where he earned a full athletic scholarship. As a member of the Florida Gators, Michael distinguished himself as a formidable defensive player, wearing No. 71. He earned three varsity letters, served as team defensive captain during his senior year, and led the Southeastern region in sacks at his position. His on-field achievements reflected not only his athletic excellence but also the integrity, humility, and leadership that would define his life.

Beyond athletics, Michael chose as his Fraternity Omega Psi Phi, Spring ‘76, Omicron Zeta at the University of Florida and where he embodied brotherhood and service as a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated®, living by its principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift. Within the fraternity, he was known as a mentor and steady presence—always willing to guide, encourage, and uplift others.

Following his collegiate years, Michael built an exemplary 33-year career with State Farm Automobile Insurance Company, retiring as a Team Manager. He earned both his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations. Professionally, Michael was trusted, respected, and admired. He offered more than insurance—he offered reassurance, wisdom, and genuine care, turning clients into lifelong friends.

Michael was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor, and friend. He lived each chapter of his life with courage, loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to doing things the right way. His calm demeanor, warm laughter, and principled spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 44 years, Mrs. Tangela D. DuPree of Palm Harbor, Florida; his son, Terrence D. DuPree (Lakesia); and his daughter, Michelle D. DuPree. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Tremayne DuPree, Tekeiyah DuPree, and Isaiah Richardson, as well as his great-grandchildren, Ja’riah DuPree and Khaza DuPree.

He is survived further by his siblings Arthur Barnes (Annie), Moses Barnes (Amminita), Johnny Barnes (Mozelle), Ruby Foster, Dorothy DuPree, and Mary Brown; his cherished friends James Harrell and Dennis Smith; and a host of fraternity brothers, extended family members, and friends.

Though Michael has departed this earthly field, his legacy endures—in his family, his friendships, his fraternity, Gator Nation, and in the countless lives he touched through quiet excellence, steadfast faith, and enduring love.
