Mr. Orvon "Sugarman" Ruben Nichols

A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Orvon "Sugarman" Nichols of Tampa, Florida passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 02:00 pm at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33606, with Pastor Wallace Bowers, officiating.

Mr. Orvon Nichols was a native of St. Petersburg, Florida, and a resident of Tampa, Florida, for over 70 years. He attended the Public Schools of Hillsborough County and was a retired truck driver.

He is preceded in death by: his parents, Norval and Doris Nichols; granddaughter, Kennetha Butler; significant other, Wanda Frith; brothers, Kenneth Nichols, Pierre Cash, and Norval Scott; nephews, Terrence Nichols Sr., Samuel Hicks III, and Warren Mitchell Sr.; great niece, Michelle Leonard; brother-in-law, Alphonso Sheppard Sr.; and former wife, Beverly Nichols.

He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Tammy Lark and Tam-Mara Nichols; son, Verome Nichols (Sara); step-daughter, Shameka Frith; step-sons, Vernon Frith and Jerome Frith; grandchildren, Faith Lark, Trequan Nichols, Taylor Warren, King Williams, Jeremiah and Hailee Beckwith; sisters, Judy Conaway and Edwina “Kitty” Sheppard; sister-in-law, Kim Nichols; brothers, Michael Nichols and Johnell Conaway; nieces, Wanda Conaway (Bubba), Ginell Jackson (Frank), Tasha Key-Wright (Dr. Wright), Tracy Nichols, Luv Stewart, Stephanie Leonard, Rachel Amones, Karen Hart (Leonard) and Pamela Gathers; nephews, JJ Conaway (Vickie), Cedric Hicks, Winyatta Parker, Alphonso Sheppard Jr. (Gloria) and family and Antonio Sheppard Sr. (Melinda) & family; great nieces and nephews, Terrence Jr., Terrencia, Antwan, Lil Sam, PJ, Samya, Shayla, Cedkia, CJ, Janiah, Kendonte, Traedonavon, Brendasia, Maggie, Menyatta, Keyona, Quinton, Wardell, Elena, Jovani, Charmonique (Montrell), and Marquiel (Ja'naie); cousins, Mary Newbold, The Harris family, The Boyd Family, The Nixon Family and Beatrice Williams and family; Mothers of his children, Grace Dupree and Gladys Edwards; extended family, Sheila Foxworth and family, Martha Thompson and family, The Lowe Family, The Munn family and the Caldwell family; and a host of many other family members and friends that crossed paths and touched his heart that will never be forgotten (if your name was omitted, please accept our sincere apologies).

A Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
