Mr. Phillip C. Porter of Tampa, FL, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Greater Faith Outreach Center, 7401 N. Dixon Avenue, Tampa, FL 33604. The interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.
Mr. Phillip C. Porter was born on March 15, 1963, to Fred and Annie Porter in Chicago, Illinois. In 1971, he moved to Jackson, MS, where he was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ at Greater Bethlehem Temple. He later relocated to Shreveport, LA, where he graduated from high school. After graduating from high school, he attended Paine College University in Augusta, GA, where he graduated with a bachelor’s in business. After graduating from college, Mr. Porter moved to Tampa, FL, with his family, where he received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost at Calvary Apostolic Faith Church. Mr. Porter continued to serve at Calvary for the remainder of his years, where he became a licensed minister under the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith International (PCAFI) and later in life became Suffragan Bishop. Mr. Porter also served as a middle school technology educator for 28 years, where he served at Roland Park Middle and later Farnell Middle. While teaching, Mr. Porter continued his education and earned both his master’s and doctoral degrees. He also published his book, I’m Saved, Now What, which stands as a lasting expression of his love for new converts and his commitment to equipping them with the tools to continue growing in God’s Kingdom.
Mr. Porter was preceded in death by: his mother, Annie Porter; and his brother, Fred Porter Jr.
He is survived by: his living wife, Grace Porter; his daughters, Keona and Kahlil Porter; parents, Bishop Fred L. Porter, Sr. and Carolyn; siblings, Orlando Porter, Kedric Porter, Freddie Wilson (Lareese), John Smith III (Bernice), LaTarsus Porter, Contina Wilson, and April Harris (Michael); nieces, Samantha Wilson (Eduar), Kyra Thomas, D’Asia Wilson, Talia Duvoll, Tahajanae Clinton, Makenna and Melinani Porter, Mercy Smith, Mariah Friend (Houston), and Zoë Harris; nephews, Joshua Palmer, Caleb Porter, Michael Smith, Tristan Harris, and Trevon Duvoll; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, great nieces and nephews, friends, extended family, and the Calvary Apostolic Faith Church Family.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
