Mr. Randolph Theodore Myers, Sr., of Tampa, FL passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Greater Bethel M.B. Church, 1207 North Jefferson Street, Tampa, FL; Reverend Dr. Brett Snowden, Pastor, will officiate, with Reverend Correggio Reaves, Pastor of St. Mark M.B. Church, serving as the Eulogist. The interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.
Randolph T. Myers, Sr., was born to Anthony and Pauline Myers on September 9, 1933, in Port Tampa, Florida. He accepted Christ at the age of 10 and remained an active member of St. Mark M.B. Church for over 80 years, becoming its oldest member. Throughout his time at St. Mark, he served as Chairman of the Trustee Ministry, a Brotherhood and Male Chorus member, and participated in Sunday School Ministries until he was no longer able to attend in person. He continued to enjoy online worship services and Bible study.
Randolph was educated in the Hillsborough County Public Schools and graduated from Don Thompson Vocational High School in 1953. In 1955, he joined the International Longshoremen’s Association (I.L.A.), Local 1402, where he dedicated 40 years of service. He retired on September 9, 1995, as Executive Vice President of his local union. His outstanding contributions to CSX Transportation, Rockport Pier Terminal, earned him numerous letters of appreciation and commendations.
Randolph played a pivotal role in history as the last living parent involved in the federal lawsuit filed on December 12, 1958, Andrew Manning vs. the School Board of Hillsborough County, advocating for equal educational opportunities for Shayron Reed, Sandra Reed, Nathaniel Cannon, Tyrone Cannon, Darnel Cannon, and Gail Myers.
One of his favorite quotes was:
"If I leave this world today or tomorrow, the world doesn’t owe me anything. I’ve had a good life, and God has been good to me."
Randolph was the last surviving child of deceased parents, Anthony and Pauline Myers. He was also preceded in death by: his children, Randolph T. Myers, Jr., and Gail Myers Hodges; his siblings, Paul Myers, Reginald Myers, Harpin Myers, John Myers, Harold Myers, and Annie Myers Jones; his granddaughter, Ashley Hodges Buskey; and his father-in-law, President David Williams.
Randolph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and friend. He leaves behind cherished memories with his loving wife of 41 years, The Honorable Gwendolyn W. Myers; and his son, Eric V. Myers, Sr., and wife, Yolanda. His grandchildren include: NaTiki Myers Reddin and husband, Stacy, Garlon Hodges II and wife, Dedy, Randolph T. Myers III, Cameron Myers, Eric V. Myers Jr., and Jasmine Myers Kettler and husband, Shawn.
His great-grandchildren include: Alan Wilford, Kenyon Mathis, Tommesha Wilford, Carleigh Hodges, Garlon Hodges, III, Classic Roberts, Bailey Buskey, Reign Myers, River Myers, Raleigh Myers and Michael Kettler; great-great-grandchildren include: Jordan Wilford, Alana Wilford, Ky’Cine Wilford, Tajiah Joseph, Treazuree Webb, and he is also survived by: his mother-in-law, Dorothy Williams; and his sisters-in-law, Norma Gilbert, Carolyn Williams, Rosalyn Wise and husband, Rechee, and Dorothy Flowers. He leaves behind devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren, including Genoa Denson, Natasha Edwards, Gwendolyn Jackson, and Viveda Simmons.
Randolph also leaves behind a host of cherished friends, including Marsha Lewis Brown, Clara Hogan, Earl Hubbert, Rosalind Kilpatrick, Phyllis Lee, Evelyn McFadden, Carrie Jackson, Pamela Ravenel, Tyrone Reddish, Kelly B. Williams, Sr., Barbara White, James Wright, Michael and Tangela Dupree, Ernest and Sandra Haynes, Watson and Barbara Ragin, and Attorneys Delano and Carolyn Stewart.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, Florida. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM., 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
