Raven Julius Lewis of Tampa, FL, departed this life on Monday, June 15, 2026. His life was a treasured gift to his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him. Raven Julius Lewis was born on September 21, 1963, in Winter Park, Florida, to Raven and Leatrice Lewis. Raven was educated at Louisiana State University, where he earned a master’s degree in social work. He also gave generously of his time through a multitude of volunteer work at his church, serving in counseling, children’s ministry, usher ministry, and other areas where he could be a blessing to others.
He was best known for his coaching of track and field throughout the city, county, and state, where he poured into the lives of athletes and inspired many through his dedication, leadership, and love for the sport.
Raven will be remembered for the love he shared, the presence he carried, and the lasting memories he created with those closest to him. His journey touched many lives, and his legacy will continue through the family he loved so dearly.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Vanessa Lewis; his children, Deleisha Whiters (Cedric), Rayna Lewis, Raven Elijah Lewis, Julius Lewis, Hannah Lewis, and Joseph Lewis; brother, Elder Ray Smith (Teresa); sister, Tomeka Brown (Hubert); uncles, Elias Norton, Jr., and Robert Norton; and a host of cousins and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
Though Raven’s earthly life has come to a close, the love, wisdom, and memories he shared will remain a source of comfort and strength. His family gives thanks for his life and asks that all who knew him continue to honor his memory with love, kindness, and faith.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in honor of Raven Lewis. Contributions may be made through Ever Loved at everloved.com/life-of/raven-lewis/donate/.
