Mr. Robert L. Chestnut

Mr. Robert L. Chestnut of Tampa, Florida, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025.  Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606, with Reverend Donald Lott, Officiating.  Interment will follow in Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513.

Mr. Chestnut was born on October 15, 1935, in Gretna, Florida to Harry Chestnut and Joretha Coleman Smith. He made Tampa his home for more than seventy years. He was employed as a Skycap at Tampa International Airport. He faithfully served for many years as a Funeral Associate at Ray Williams Funeral Home, where he had the honor of working under the original founder, Mr. Ray Williams. Mr. Chestnut was a devoted member of Allen Temple A.M.E. Church.

He was preceded in death by:  his brother, Roosevelt Baker (Ellie) of Havana, Florida, and his sister, Georgia Ann Smith of Tampa, Florida.  

He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Alicia Warren (Torrance Sr.) of Warner Robins, Georgia; two brothers, Walter L. Smith Jr. and Alfred J. Smith (Elizabeth); two sisters, Mary H. Long (David) and Gwendolyn D. Smith, all of Gretna, Florida; two grandchildren, Nyah and Torrance Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
