Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, 2:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
Roderick Samuel “Rick” Harrison was born January 14, 1961, in Washington D.C. to the late Bettie Jean Forbes and Bernard S. Harrison, Sr. He was the middle child of 5 siblings. He was educated in Hillsborough County Catholic School Systems and graduated from Leto High School. Although he was a gifted and proud Falcon, he had a heart for the Crusaders.
Rick gave his life to Christ at an early age. During his childhood, he became a phenomenal basketball player. In 1979, he became one of the first high school graduates to obtain a full basketball scholarship to the University of South Florida!
Another important chapter of his life was 1986, when he joined the United States Army. After a stellar Army career, he returned to Tampa with his wife Carmen and children Roderick (Rocky), September (Seppy) Broxie, and Brandon Harrison. Many of his proudest moments were watching his children compete off and on in the various fields of play in high school and collegiately.
Rick enjoyed watching professional sports, particularly the Buccaneers, fishing, and construction; A beloved Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Pop Pop, Community volunteer, Uncle, Bro-In-Law, and Friend.
He was preceded in death by: his teenage sweetheart and wife, Carmen Harrison; father, Bernard S. Harrison, Sr.; and mother, Bettie Jean Forbes.
He is survived by: his son, Roderick “Rocky” Harrison; daughters, September (Seppy) Broxie and Brandon Harrison; grandchildren, Ryder and Aziah Harrison; brother, Bernard S. Harrison Jr.; sisters, Adrienne McNeil, Donna Lee, and Pamela Ward; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
