Rony was born on December 8, 1958, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to Geralda Moussignac and Charles-Henry Raoul Michaud. He immigrated to Brooklyn, New York, with his brothers on August 30, 1972. He attended Abraham Lincoln High School in Coney Island, Brooklyn, where he discovered an affinity for architecture and design.
Rony graduated from high school and attended the Institute of Design and Construction, where he earned an associate degree in Architectural Technology and refined his skills in interior architecture and design. He was hired by multiple firms to design interior spaces, often highlighting and combining classical and cultural concepts into his work. His projects often took him from the suburbs of Jamaica, Queens, to the forests of West Point Military Academy, and everywhere in between.
Rony and his family eventually settled in Riverview, Florida, in November 2005, where he switched careers but still wanted to assist people. He worked for Hertz Rental Car Company, JetBlue Airlines, and retired with New York Life Insurance Company in December 2025, after 14 years.
Rony was a man of many talents. He was a skilled soccer player. His favorite player was the Brazilian fútbol star, Pelé. His favorite soccer club was Chelsea FC of the English Premier League. He enjoyed watching the NY Mets, NY Jets, and his beloved NY Knicks.
Rony was also a very skilled musician. He played bass guitar, guitar, keyboard, and drums. He played in a Haitian Kompa band, EZ Band, publishing multiple albums and performing across the NY/NJ area to highlight the music of his home country.
Rony met the love of his life, Sandra (DeBrosse), on May 19, 1984, while living in Brooklyn. They cultivated a loving home for their family and were married for 38 years, but together for 41 years. They enjoyed gardening, dancing, and enjoying the Florida sunshine in their backyard.
Rony was a kind and loving man. He was always willing to assist someone in need, even if it put him at a disadvantage. He was a friend that you could always count on and was ready to put a smile on your face to brighten your day. He taught his children and grandchildren to do the right thing, even when it does not feel right.
