Mr. Sylvester Gillyard Jr.

Mr. Sylvester Gillyard Jr. of Tampa, FL passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, 2:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Sylvester Gillyard Jr. was born February 9, 1968, in Perry, Florida to Jessie Mae Foster and Sylvester Gillyard Sr. Sylvester moved to Tampa, Florida in 1979 and lived here for over 40 years. Sylvester (Charlie) Gillyard was a rattlesnake on the outside but was soft as cotton on the inside. He loved everyone but was misunderstood by many! Charlie, as everyone knows, was the life of the party and a great dancer! He would kick people out his yard on many occasions! He will be truly missed, and his spirit will live on forever in every single heart that he touched!  

He preceded in death by: his parents, Jessie Mae Foster and Slyvester Gillyard Sr; and brother Mark Gillyard.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving brothers, Kennth Robertson, and Shawn Wallace;

nieces and nephews, Mark Gillyard Jr., Markell Gillyard, Markis Gillyard, Markus Gillyard, Markez Gillyard, Markayla Gillyard, Sedina Boderick, Markeva Kirk, Kennethia Robertson, Jesse Robertson, Kenneth Robertson Jr., Joseph Robertson, Antonio Robertson, Knnecia Robertson, Lashai Wallace, Shawn Wallace Jr., Iky Wallace, Shawn Wallace III, Shurena Wallace, and  Kyrie Wallace; Sister-in-law, Nakeisha Thomas; god parents, Mrs. Juanita and Wayne Glenn,; aunts, Sadie Mae Foster, and Alma Jean Foster; uncles, Terry and  Jerry Foster; friends, Shanta Owens, and Eric Bell, Houston, TX; and a host of cousins out of Perry Florida and Quincy FL.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
