Mr. Virgil Oliver Brooks III

Mr. Virgil Oliver Brooks III of Tampa, FL, passed away Friday, August 9, 2024. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at Life in Christ Community Church, 9706 N. 26th Street, Tampa, FL 33612 with Pastor A.L. Randall, Officiating. Interment will follow in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 4202 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Mr. Virgil Oliver Brooks III was a native and resident of Tampa for 70 years. Known fondly as a "jack of all trades," Virgil had a remarkable ability to tackle any challenge and master a diverse range of skills with a spirit of enthusiasm and ingenuity.

Virgil was preceded in death by: his wife, Valarie Gail Johnson; daughter, Yasmine Tyson; and father, Virgil Bentley Oliver Brooks Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving mother, Olivia Levy Brooks; children, Janice Ward (Eddie), Olivia Brooks, Lashawna Johnson (Howard), Danyel Tyson, Virgil Huggins, and Victoria Collins (Xavier); sister, Janice Hagins (Issac); brother, Oliver Brooks(Evelyn); grandchildren, Anquineshia Cory Thornton, Torres, Damien Tyson, Eddie Ward, Essence Malveau, Jaliyah Wilson, Jasmine Burkes, Michael Graham, Mikeshia Graham, Mitchel Davis, Virgil Huggins Jr., Wilburt Jackson, and Zaniyah Collins; nieces and nephews, Janelle Brooks, Janeka Brooks-Bivens (Larry), Shayna Brooks, Aiko Hagins, Isaiah Hagins, and Kaleb Brooks; great grandchildren, Jazlynn Jackson, Zaire Harvin, and Eddie Ward Jr.; great nieces and nephews, J’Kobi Reddick, Zemberiah Strong, J’London Bivens, Makaio Hepburn, J’Landis Bivens, Asia Hagins, Bentley Hagins, J’Landen Bivens, Ja’Ly Bivens and Makhai Hepburn; special cousin, Bentley Haley; Godson, Ray’Jan Bryant; and a host of great grandchildren, friends and family.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
