Mr. Willie Montgomery Sr.

Mr. Willie Charles Montgomery Sr. of Tampa, FL, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, 11:00 am at Greater Faith Outreach Center, 7401 N. Dixon Avenue, Tampa, FL 33604, with Pastor Jacqueline B. Zeigler, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Mr. Willie C. Montgomery Sr. was a native of Okolona, MS, and a resident of Tampa for 60 years. He attended the schools in Chickasaw County, MS, and was a member of Greater Faith Outreach Center. He was employed by Trailways/Greyhound Bus Line and Tampa Tribune/Penske as a Driver for over 40 years.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Winfred L. Montgomery; son, Jaudon C. Montgomery; parents, Willie L Montgomery and Annie Mae Montgomery; and siblings, Don Montgomery, Willie Mae Cunningham, and W D Montgomery Sr.

He leaves to cherish in his memory with: his 2 daughters, Trendella Carpenter and Kimberly Montgomery; 2 sons, Travis Montgomery  and Willie C Montgomery Jr, all of Tampa, FL; 4 granddaughters, Kennethia Montgomery, Trelecia Carpenter, Tierra Carpenter, and Aaliyah Montgomery, all of Tampa, FL; 3 grandsons, Kajuan Montgomery, Treyveon Montgomery of Tampa, FL and Brandon Mims of Augusta, GA; 2 sisters, Mary Ann Fedrick of Tampa, FL, Marie Smith of Dallas, TX; 3 brothers-in-law, Henry Lee (Theresa) Fortson, Jr. of Springfield, MA, John (Jacquelyn) Fortson, and Bishop Robert N (Chiquita) Fortson Sr., all of Jackson, MS; 2 sisters-in-law, Laverne (Amos) Sterling of Jackson, MS and Jeanette Ann Fortson of Egypt MS; bonus daughters and sons, Lisa Fortson, Anthony and Janell Lester, Lyndon Robertson, Pastor Jacqueline B. and Elder George Zeigler, and Chris Fitzroy; bonus grandchildren, Jamie West, Anaiya Fortson, D’Andre Woods, De’Anthony Lester, Ashanti Lester, Kenya Lester, Keymosha (James) Talley, and Niyoka Zeigler; special friends, Willie and Glory Horace, Coach James Wright, Tom Gilliyard, Ezell Lester, Yellow Jackets Little League Family, Bishop Fred and Carolyn Porter, Bishop Phillip and Grace Porter, Carl and Christine Johnson, The Stapleton Family, Elvene Howard, Dr. Aaron Howard, Cynthia Rue and the Greater Faith Outreach Center Family; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Greater Faith Outreach Center, 7401 N Dixon Avenue, Tampa, FL 33604.
