Mr. Wm Curtis James Obituary

Mr. Wm Curtis James of Tampa, FL, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Memorial COGIC, 2313 E. 27th Avenue, Tampa, FL 33605, with Bishop Anthony W. Gilyard, Pastor, Officiating.  Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Mr. Wm Curtis James was born on July 7, 1937, to the union of Wm Lewis James and Annie Grace James. He was a native of Brooksville, Florida and later became a lifelong resident of Tampa, Florida. He attended the schools of Hillsborough County and graduated from Middleton High School in 1957.

He retired from Portland Cement as a Machinist. After retirement, he worked as a Delivery Driver, delivering food to prisons. He also worked as a Security Guard and a Barber. He was a firm believer in Christ and a humble servant. He committed to attending and serving at Brown Memorial COGIC, where he served on the Usher’s Ministry.

He was preceded in death by: his spouse, Jacquelyn James, whom he affectionately called "Darling"; mother, Annie Grace James; father, Wm Lewis James; sister, Eugenia Hicks; and brothers, Earl and Howard James.

He leaves to cherish his memories: His mother in-law, Mrs. Edna Smith; a devoted daughter, Renee McKenzie (Egbert); sons, Kennis Keenan, Reginald Keenan, and Anthony Keenan (Tamarell); special grandchildren, Jermaine Spencer and Erique Williams (Ashley); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his biological nieces and nephews, Renaldo Austin (Brenda), Llalando Austin (Ola), Nino Austin, LaSeme Austin, Saughanto Austin (Queen), Keita Dawson (Calvin), and Reginald Snail (Audrey); siblings, Barbara Jones (George), Arthur Strawder (Belinda), Johnnie Mae Spencer (Erroll), Sylvia Spencer Boone (Charles), Diane Spencer (Floyd), and Danny Williams (Gerri); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends who loved him dearly.

A very special thank you to his Caregivers from Caress CNA services, Cynthia and Myda.

 

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
