Mrs. Alfenis Bryant Smokes

Alfenis Bryant Smokes of Tampa, FL, departed this world peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the age of 82.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606, with Pastor Farnorris Morgan, Officiant and Eulogist. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Alfenis Bryant Smokes was born on August 23, 1943, in Wildwood, FL, to John Wesley Bryant and Luvenia Bryant. She was raised in Wildwood, where she cultivated deep-rooted values of family, friendship, and service to others. Alfenis attended Howard W. Blake High School and graduated in 1961. She later married John D. Smokes II and secured a position with Industrial Supply Company. Over the course of more than 20 years with the company, she earned a reputation for her intelligence, unwavering work ethic, and dedication. She was a cherished and beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend—whose love, compassion, and kindness touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Alfenis was preceded in death by:  her parents, John Wesley Bryant and Luvenia Bryant; sister, Roseita Daniels; sons, John D. Smokes III and Ricky Ming; and nephew, Walter Jr.

Alfenis Bryant Smokes is survived by: son, Daryl Smokes; daughter, Marsha Smokes; grandchildren, John D. Smokes IV, Kenneth Moore (Nita), Joanna Smokes and Yasmine Robinson; great-grandchildren, Zelica, Zekendra, Kenneth III, Zenate, Rod, Shaud, and John Smokes V; her brother, John Bryant (Evangeline);  nieces and nephews, Valerie, Sharvette (late husband Rocky), Rhonda (Marvin), Darlene (Carlos), Lynette, Evans and Cindi; great nieces and nephews, Damien(Octavious), Trae, Tasha, Sharnette, Angeline (Xavier), Denerio, Kenny, Porcia, Jarra, Danielle, Brandon, Tyree, Daniel, Tyrianna, Cameryn, Tylan, Ty'ay and Tyler; first cousins, Lorein, Joseph (Mae), Dela, Sharell, Linda, Yvonne and Darlene; and special friend, James Wilson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
