Mrs. Andre Hicks-Dolphin Obituary

Mrs. Andre Hicks-Dolphin of Tampa passed away Friday, October 16, 2020.  Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, 2606 W. Grace Street, Reverend T. D. Leonard, Pastor with Pastor Calvin Green, officiating.  Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.  Please follow the CDC Guidelines. Masks are required.

Mrs. Andre Hicks-Dolphin was a native of Florida and a resident of Tampa for 54 years.  She was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County and furthered her education with Florida Technical College.  Mrs. Hicks-Dolphin was a member of Mt. Tabor M. B. Church as a child and New Testament Worship Center – True Life Ministry.

She was self employed as a Jewelry Distributor for Paparazzi & Accessories.  Andre loved life and people.  She never met a stranger.  She enjoyed family gatherings, especially spending time with her sisters.

She was a life coach by nature, always encouraging and inspiring everyone she knew and or met to be the best that they could be – and to do whatever it took for them to acquire or achieve their goals.  She was a “doer” not just a “talker”.  She wasn’t afraid to put her hands to the plow.  Andre was a natural born leader.

She was the baby of eleven children, that ruled over all of her siblings. When she spoke – They all listened.  She was the apple of her children and granddaughter’s eye, along with Lydia Brock, her great great niece.  There was never a dull moment when she was around.  Her smile alone would pick you up.

She was preceded in death by: her mother, Annie Mary Hicks; grandmothers, Emma Lee Hicks and Claty Bigham; grandfathers, Ansel Hicks and Leroy Hagins; brother, Frank Skylan Hagins; sisters, Linda Muse and Gwendolyn Muse; and brothers-in-law, Jeffery Wade and Charles Reynolds.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Phillip Dolphin; daughters, Shantell Hightower, Robyn McGill and Nyasia Dolphin; sons, DeShawn Dolphin and Kevin “KD” Williams; granddaughter, Andrea Jackson; father, George Hicks (Pammela); brothers, Maynard Webb (Ruth), Kenneth Webb (Marian) and Alphonso Webb (Rosa); sisters, Claty Williams, Sherria Reynolds,  Brenda Wade, Adriane Hicks -caregiver and Altamease Barnes (Odell); nieces, Lucian Knott; caregiver, Rickana Ponder; her little heartbeat and great niece, Lydia “Tinny” Brock; maternal aunt, Daisy Armwood; paternal aunts, Geraldine Brown, Bernice Williams, Ella Johnson, Annie Berillo and Sandra Washington; paternal uncles, Sammy Hicks (Sandra), Herbert Hicks (Juanita), William Hicks (Jennifer) and Joseph Hicks; lifelong friends, Renee James, Velda Henderson, Paula Powell, Cynthia Chipp, Selina King, and Antionette Stokes; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.  The world was a better place because Andre was in it.

The visitation will be held, Friday, October 23, from 3 – 7 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Ave, Tampa, FL 33607.  We are asking family and friends to follow the CDC guidelines. Masks are required.
