Mrs. Anita Marie Berrien, a native of Thomasville, GA and a resident of Tampa, FL, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Love First Christian Center, 12847 Balm Riverview Road, Riverview, FL 33579, with Minister Tony Herring of Quitman, Georgia, Officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Wimauma Memorial Gardens, North Street, Wimauma, FL 33598.
Anita, a resident of Georgia for approximately four years, relocated to the Palm River Community in Tampa, Florida. She later moved a little further south to Riverview.
She attended Palm River Elementary, Franklin Middle School, Dowdell Middle School, and Hillsborough High School. Later, she pursued higher education at the University of Phoenix, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with a minor in Social Work.
Anita worked a wide array of jobs, including a school Bus Driver for Hillsborough County Public Schools, a Claims Representative with Progressive Insurance, a Correctional Services Officer with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, a Middle School Teacher, a High School Credit Recovery Teacher, and finally a Veterans Service Representative at the Veterans Affairs Office. In this role, she was responsible for evaluating veterans and assisting them in accessing their entitled benefits.
Outside of work, Anita was a member and devoted Usher at Love First Christian Center.
Anita leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Robert Berrien Jr.; her children, George Jackson Jr., Darius Williams of London, England, Brittany Wilson, Robert Berrien III, and Jazmine Berrien; her siblings, Theresa Williams, Stephanie Malone, Darrick Jackson, and David Jackson; stepfather, Leon Jackson; grandchildren, George Jackson III, Darren Hampton, Krislyn Roberts, Ariah Berrien, Aiden Russel, Austin Russel, Jayda Jackson, and Lola Jackson; great grandchild, Jah’nylah Jackson; best friend, Pam Burton and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
