Mrs. Annie Goss Summerline Kimbell, affectionately known as Annie Rose, of Tampa, FL, peacefully departed this life and was called home on Saturday, February 1, 2025. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Revealing Truth Ministries Christian Center, 5201 N. Armenia Avenue, Tampa, FL 33603, with Pastor Lamar Mills, Presiding.
Born on December 14, 1940, to Deacon Atheal and Miller Goss, Annie Rose was the youngest of three children, bringing joy, warmth, and love to all who knew her. Faith was the cornerstone of her life. A devoted member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, she faithfully served as church clerk for many years. She instilled in her children the importance of faith, guiding them in worship, Bible study, and fervent prayer.
Annie Rose’s love for her family was boundless. A nurturing mother and cherished Grandmother, she spent countless hours creating memories with her granddaughters. She had a special gift for bringing people together, especially through her love of cooking. Breakfast was her favorite meal, and skipping it was never an option. Her lemon pound cake, chili, collard greens, mac and cheese, and beef short ribs that became legendary family favorites—recipes she lovingly passed down to the next generation.
A proud graduate of Treutlen County High School, Annie Rose carried her small-town "can-do" spirit into big-city aspirations. At just 16 years old, she pursued higher education at Albany State University, working summers in the cotton fields to fund her dream of becoming an educator.
Her 45-year career in education was marked by both challenge and triumph. As a young teacher, she navigated the transition from segregation to desegregation while also entering the evolving field of special education. Just nine years in, she was promoted to District Resource Teacher, making a profound impact on countless students and fellow educators. She had an innate ability to recognize potential, nurture talent, and inspire greatness, leaving behind a legacy of life forever changed.
Annie Rose’s kindness, strength, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
She was preceded in death by: her beloved husband, Frank Kimbell, Jr.; her parents, Deacon Atheal and Miller Goss; and her brothers, Charles and Herbert Goss.
She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory: her daughters, Annette Reeves and Earlene Steele; sons-in-law, Harold Reeves and Dwaine Steele; granddaughters, Adrieanna and Alessandria Steele; sisters-in-law, Alberta Goss, Alnnora Allen, and Lynnora Hadley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
