Mrs. Annie Pearl "Barbara" Fisher Lock Obituary

Annie Pearl “Barbara” Fisher Lock of Tampa, FL passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, 2:00 p.m. at Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ, 2001 N. Albany Avenue, Tampa, FL 33607 with Superintendent Clethen U. Sutton, Officiating.

Mrs. Annie Pearl “Barbara” (Fisher) Lock was born on February 3, 1948, in Tampa, Florida, to Pearl (Flournory) and Silas Fisher. Known to family and friends as Barbara, Barbara Jean, and AP, she accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Moriah Baptist Church. After graduating from Howard W. Blake High School in Tampa, Florida, in 1967, she attended and graduated from American Business College in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1969. She returned to Tampa and married Bobby Adams Sr. in 1969. She had two children, Cynthia Yvonne Adams, and Bobby Adams Jr. who were born into that union. During those years, Annie was employed by Goody Goody Restaurant and later by Kilbride Insurance Agency, where she worked for many years.

Barbara and her children relocated to Newton, MA, in 1977. While there, she joined and became a faithful member of Myrtle Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the Pastor's Aid Committee and as a deaconess and deacon. During that period, she was employed by Bay Bank of Boston. Growing tired of the cold and snow, she and her family returned to Tampa in 1991.

Upon her return to Tampa, Barbara resumed employment with the Kilbride Insurance Agency. She became a member of Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ, where she remained a member till her death. Even in her prolonged illness, she remained a steadfast follower of Christ and a mighty prayer warrior.

After her return to Tampa, Annie met and married Edward Lock who preceded her in death.

Barbara was a very giving person, especially to children. She gave money, backpacks, and school supplies to children of her church, family, and friends.

Barbara was also preceded in death by: her daughter, Cynthia Yvonne Adam; parents, Pearl and Silas Fisher; sister, Loraine Fisher; and brother, Richard Allen Fisher.

She leaves to mourn her loving memories: her son, Bobby Adams, Jr. of Tampa; sisters, Shirley Fisher Best, of Tampa, FL, and Helen Fisher Jefferson (Richard) of Newton, Massachusetts; brothers, Silas Fisher Jr. (Shirley) of Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Ernest Fisher of Tampa; aunt, Peggy Gimblet (Willie); uncle, Rev. Benjamin Broadnax; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ, 2001 N. Albany Avenue, Tampa, FL 33607.
