Mrs. Catherine Richardson Johnson

Mrs. Catherine Richardson Johnson of Tampa, FL passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2511 E. Columbus Drive, Tampa, FL 33605 with Pastor Larry Roundtree II, Officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Catherine Richardson Johnson was born on September 26, 1930, in Ashville, FL to the late Charity and George Richardson. She accepted Christ at an early age. After primary schooling, she met and married her husband Joe Johnson Jr. From this union six children were born.

Catherine has worked in the healthcare field for over 40 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She retired from the Rehab and Healthcare Center of Tampa after 35 years. She is still a devoted New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church member, where she once taught Sunday School.  

Mrs. Johnson, affectionately known as “Mama”, will be remembered for always having a kind heart and an infectious smile.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Charity and George Richardson; husband, Joe Johnson Jr.; brothers, Ike Richardson, and Robert Richardson; sisters, Sarah Noble, Susie Gaskins, Canary Abrams, and Rebecca Tillman; and son-in-law, Henry Holder.

She leaves her precious memories with her children Annie Robertson (John), Joe Johnson III, Wanda Williams, Gail Holder, Debbie Douglas (Willie), Sheryl Johnson; brother Jack Richardson; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; dear friends Marie Floydene Goodwin and Laverne “Sally” Washington; and a host of other family members and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
