Mrs. Delia Drakes Wilson

It is with profound sadness and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Mrs. Delia Drakes Wilson of Riverview, FL, who departed this life on Monday, August 3, 2026.  Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Calvary Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4902 N. 40th Street, Tampa, FL 33610, with Reverend Ricardo Bain, Pastor, Officiating. Interment will be on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.

Born in the Republic of Panama, Delia later made Tampa, FL her home for more than 33 years after her husband's retirement from Military Service. She earned an Associate Degree in Communications from Central Texas College. She worked as a substitute teacher with Hillsborough County for several years, then concluded her career service at MacDill Air Force Base CENTCOM, where her caring nature and love for others touched the lives of many.

Delia was a woman of deep and unwavering faith who placed God at the center of her life and family. She was a devoted member of Mount Calvary Seventh-day Adventist Church in Tampa, FL, for nearly 40 years, where she faithfully served. Her love for ministry was evident through her service as a Bible instructor and Sabbath School teacher, sharing the Word of God, studying Scripture with others, and encouraging those around her in their walk with Christ. Her faith was not simply something she spoke about-it was reflected in the way she lived and served others.

Above all, Delia treasured her family. She was a devoted wife to Donald Wilson Sr. and a loving mother to her three sons, Courtney Cole, Donald Wilson Jr. (Shaana), and Kelly Wilson (Julia). She was immensely proud of her sons and cherished her 8 grandchildren, surrounding them with love, encouragement, and prayer. Delia also shared a lifelong bond with her sisters, Lucia Goffe, Wilma Johnson, Rosabella Nichols, and Camelia Wilson.

Known for her generous and compassionate heart, Delia was always willing to help someone in need. She gave freely, loved deeply, and offered kindness without expecting anything in return. Her family, faith, and service to others were the foundation of a life well lived.

Delia will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her husband, sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, sisters, extended family, church family, and many friends. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, generosity, and unconditional love. Her family finds comfort in the faith that guided her throughout her life and in knowing that the love she gave and the lives she touched will continue to carry her memory forward. Her life was a testimony, her faith was her foundation, and her family was her greatest joy.
