Mrs. Dolores Davis Obituary

Mrs. Dolores Del-Rio Brantley Davis of Tampa, FL passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Mt. Calvary Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 4902 N. 40th Street, Tampa, FL, 33610 with Pastor Larry Johnson, Officiating. Interment will follow in Florida National Cemetery. MASK RECOMMENDED.

Mrs. Dolores Del-Rio Brantley Davis was born in Tampa, FL on September 19, 1934, to Marquerite and George Brantley. She was affectionately known by her family as “Big Momma.”

During her early years, Dolores attended Mt. Calvary Seventh Day Adventist School and Hillsborough County Public Schools. She was a graduate of Middleton Sr. High School, Class of 1952. Dolores later married her former classmate, Hollis Davis Sr. From their union eight children were born: Daphyne, Hollis Jr., Michael, Ronald, Diane, Eddie, Valerie, and Rickie Davis.

Dolores was preceded in death by: her husband, Hollis Davis Sr.; their two children, Valerie L. Davis, and Ronald Davis Sr.; parents, Marquerite, and George Brantley; grandparents, Eugenia, and Dewitt Armster; two infant siblings, Charlie, and Calvin Brantley; two sisters, Pearl Brantley, and Helena Brantley-Tate; brother-in-law, Douglas Tate; brother, Furman Brantley Sr. (Doris); and a host of relatives that preceded her in death who are not mentioned, but sadly missed.

Dolores leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: her children, Daphyne Davis, Hollis Davis Jr., Michael Davis Sr., Diane Davis, Eddie Davis Sr., and Rickie Davis Sr (Erika Castel); brothers, Alvin (Deborah Brantley), and George Earl (Diane Brantley), and Shannon Brantley; and twenty-one grandchildren, Michael Davis Jr. (Amber), Andre Davis James, Vernon Davis, Ronald Davis Jr., Derryck (Denise), Rosanna Davis, Chiquita Davis, Rashida, Ebony, Eric, Eddie Davis Jr., Hollis Davis III (Tiffany), Shania (Xavier West), Rashan, and Labron Davis, Dyani, La’Deja, Rickie Davis Jr., Reche “Chase” Davis, Mer’Keciya, and Jamira Hankerson; and a host of other family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.  MASK RECOMMENDED.
