Mrs. Effie Austin Obituary

Ms. Effie M. Austin of Tampa, FL passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610, with Reverend Christopher Jarnegan, Assistant Pastor of First Baptist Church of College Hill, Officiating.

Ms. Austin was born on March 5, 1932, in Colquitt, GA, to the late Alexander (Alex) Crawford and Felix Chester Braville. She and her mother moved to Tampa when she was eight years old. She attended Don Thompson High School and later became a Nurse's Assistant and a Professional Nanny.

She married Clyde Austin in 1950, and they had four children whom she loved more than anything in the world. She made many sacrifices for her children.

Ms. Austin was an avid Bible reader. She was saved at an early age. She was a member of First Baptist Church of College Hill.

She was preceded in death by: her mother, Felix Braxville; father, Alexander Crawford; step- father, Joseph Braxville; niece, Joann Crawford; nephew, Tony Crawford and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Ella Kears (Ronald), Theresa Austin and Barbara Austin-Lowe (Robert); son, James Austin (Margaret), grandchildren, Tamara Carter (JC), Kevin Kearse, Torian Austin, Rasheda Patrick (Philip), Chantel Kearse, Andre Prince Lee (Michelle), Christina Austin, Damien Brewer (Shanda), and Jerald Austin;  great grandchildren, LeRhon Kearse, Quantrell Kearse, Anthony Lee, Taniya Allen, T'Nera Allen, Jada Ponder, Saniyah Brewer, Jaden Lee, Jordan Lee, Tysean Lockwood, Torianna Austin, Jazmin Patrick, Kristian Lee, Andrea Lee, Lauren Carter, Ka'Nyiah Austin, Jessica Patrick, Alexandria Austin and bonus great-grandsons, Taylor and Tyler Rosebrough; great-great grands, Nadia Rice, Dylan Allen, Jeremiah Austin, Londyn Wilson, Harlan Lee, and Kylo Lee and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 19, 2025, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
