Mrs. Ellen Murray Davis, affectionately known as “El,” “Noonie,” and “Nene,” of Tampa, FL, entered her eternal rest on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. The Homegoing Celebration honoring her life and legacy will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606, with Pastor Clarence M. Nathan, New Victory Baptist Church, Officiant. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.
Ellen Lashawn Davis was born on December 13, 1967, in Tampa, FL, to the loving union of Franklin Murray and Vivian Cambridge Murray. Ellen accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and remained steadfast in her faith.
Ellen received her education in the Hillsborough County Public Schools and also received well-rounded scholastic training in Germany, California, Kentucky, and Arkansas. She graduated from Bradwell Institute in Hinesville, GA.
Ellen attended Georgia Southern University before joining the United States Army, where she served as a Combat Medic for three years before pursuing her passion for nursing. She then attended and earned her nursing degree from Saint Petersburg College School of Nursing and dedicated many years to her profession as a Registered Nurse. However, her health eventually prevented her from continuing in her chosen profession. Ellen, a loving, caring, and giving spirit, was cherished by everyone who knew her.
Ellen was preceded in death by: her devoted husband, Damon Davis.
Ellen leaves to cherish her precious memory: her devoted son, Bryant Jevon Davis (Gwenn), father, Franklin Murray; mother, Vivian Cambridge Murray; sisters, Regina Sherrell Johnson, and Tandra Jackson; nieces, Jamie Williams, and Kri’Shauna White (Markese); nephews, Ronnie Johnson (Melika), Romie Johnson, Steven Scott (Anissia), Rennan Johnson, Syncere Styles, and Da’Shawn Styles; great-nieces, D’yirra Johnson, Dahlia Johnson, Mi’yani Scott, Azaiyah Johnson, and Analeiyah Johnson; great-nephews, Mar’Kyle White, Khy’ree Scott, Yahzeir Johnson, and Yahzaun Johnson, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to list.
Words cannot express our gratitude to all of you. The many sympathetic gestures are deeply appreciated and may God continue to bless each of you!
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
