Mrs. Florence Pierce Obituary

Mother Florence P. Pierce of Tampa, FL passed away on Saturday March 23, 2024.  Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Exciting Faith Alive Church, 5705 E. 32nd Avenue, Tampa, FL 33619, with Pastor Dr. Antonio R. Hawkins, Officiating.  Interment will follow in Orange Hill Cemetery, 4900 E. Chelsea Street, Tampa, FL 33610.

  

Mother Florence P. Pierce was a native of Tampa, FL. She attended public schools in Hillsborough County.  She was a member of Exciting Faith Alive Church until her health no longer allowed her to attend services, where she served on the Mothers Board.

Mother Florence P. Pierce was born January 21, 1943, the first of 11 children. She was a very loving, kind, and giving person. Her children were her world. In their younger years she would play four-square, roller skate, and ride bikes with them.  She also loved to cook, hosting many family cookouts, birthday parties, and celebrations at her home.  She made the best potato salad, sweet potato pies, and peach cobbler.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Harry W. Pierce; granddaughter, Tyneisha Fisher; grandson, Octavious Palmer; brothers, Nathaniel Thornton, Cecil Thornton, David Thornton, Pastor Ira Thornton Sr., Robert Thornton, and Ronnie Thornton; and sister, Ida Mae Thornton.

She leaves to cherish many fond memories with: her children, Fredrick Sweet, Vanessa Mitchell (Joseph), Iris Baker (Ronnie), Stevie Baker Sr. (Tijuana), and Harriet Bell (Tyron); step sons, Harry Pierce Jr., Anthony Pierce , and Michael Pierce (Joann); grandchildren, Antonio Palmer, Raigene Palmer, Alexis Johnson-Baker, Shaquina Williams, Sierra Baker, Stevie Baker Jr., Tyrone Fisher, Tyra Fisher (Derek), Aliyah Martin, Amari Bell, Tyra Bell, Jayla Buie, and Tyrone Bell Jr.; great -grandchildren, DeMarcus, Jaxson, Jonah, Janelle, Laniya; mother, Hazel Anderson; sisters, Irene Green, Wylene Green (Ariel), and Consuelo Hernandez Morgan (Doug); nieces, Kimberly, Heather, Shonda (Sterling), Rimica, Vania, Jerita, Tiffany, Nikia, and Tommie Lee; nephews, Ira Jr. (Toni), Cedric Sr. (Ali), Ronnie, Timonthy, Keyon, Cecil Jr., Eric, Vernon and Tywon; sister-in law, Mary Thornton; best friend, Mary Young; goddaughter, Bridgett Young; special daughters, Shadana Ortega and Charolotte Oyekoya; Ybor city family, Izola Wright and family, and Carolyn Young and family; and a host of loving family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
