Mrs. Grace Johnson-Chambers Obituary

Mrs. Grace Tabitha Johnson-Chambers of Davenport, FL, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026.  Homegoing Service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Victory AME Church, 5202 S. 86th Street, Tampa, FL 33619. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.


Mrs. Grace T. Johnson-Chambers was born on January 3, 1952, in Davenport, Florida, to Mr. Leroy and Mrs. Annie Lee Johnson, was raised in Tampa, Florida, from the age of five. She graduated from Howard W. Blake High School and attended Hillsborough Community College. She was a member of the Kingdom of Yahweh and was an entrepreneur who owned many businesses.

A devoted mother and grandmother, she also found immense joy in being there for her siblings, all her family, many friends, and even those she barely knew. She’s well known for her community support during times of bereavement and always extended her help wherever she could, primarily through her excellent cooking.

Mrs. Grace found great joy in bringing people together through her food, which was made with joy and love. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart and she loved them deeply, as they were the very center of her world.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Mr. Jeffrey C. King Chambers; her parents, Leroy and Annie Lee Johnson; brothers, Bobby Joe Johnson, Charlie Will Jones Sr., Muhammad Abdullah, and Leroy Johnson Jr.; mother-in-law, Janie Bell Chambers; father-in-law, Jeddie King; brothers-in-law, Terry G. Johnson, Martin Chambers, Ronald Chambers, Ellis King; sisters-in-law Sabrina King and Sabrina Johnson, and nieces, Janice Marie Jones and Kutana Nesbitt. 

She leaves cherished memories to: her son, Reginald Chambers (Yahweh Aryeh) (Juanita); daughter, Tasha Johnson (William); daughter, Ebony Johnson; sisters, Kathy Lee Johnson and Brenda McCormick (Donald Sr.); brothers, James Jones (Doris), Maurice Johnson (Gwendolyn), and Jimmy Dean Johnson; and sisters-in-law, Brenda Nesbitt and Deborah Abdullah;  grandchildren, Daeregescia Chambers, Elijah Simpson, Reggeniqua Chambers, Devonte Sutherland, Altaneisha Washington, Alton Washington III, Jephan Chambers, Jeremiah Chambers, Zamaria Washington, Zamar Washington, Dakorie Chambers, Ajani McKenzie, Shemariah Chambers, Jalaya Scott, and William Johnson III; great grandchildren, Chyna, Alaiyah, Goddess, Ava, Acesah, Ja’aice, Amara, Te’myah, and Amina; nieces, Kathy Carter, Rose, Shawana Johnson, Ada, Monica, Tawanda, Jamila, Takiyah, Denise, Marla, Kamilah, Lawanda, Yolonda, Ebony, Maurikia, Janie, Zaynah, Terica, Aneesah, Angelica, Alicia, Amanda, and Frederica; nephews, Charlie Jr., Rodney, Antonio, Idris, Taurus, Marcus, Trenell, Henry, Eric M. Donald Jr., Frederick (Efun Yemi), Thomas, Eric K., Jamal, Kareem, and Antione; like a sister, Annette Bowers; and a host of great nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

 

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
