Mrs. Hilma McKenzie, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the age of 87. Known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength, she touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606 with Pastor Bobby Patton, Officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.
Born on April 25, 1938 in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Hilma lived a life filled with love and purpose. She dedicated herself to her family, always offering guidance, support, and unconditional care. Her generosity extended beyond her home, as she was cherished by all who crossed her path. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit and her laughter that brightened every room. Throughout her life, Hilma embodied the essence of love, loyalty, and compassion.
She was an exceptional daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Her family’s happiness and well-being were always her top priority, and her welcoming heart made her a source of comfort and joy for all who knew her. She enjoyed attending church, cooking, watching Chuck Norris and Gunsmoke on television, and completing word searches. She was a devoted employee of Singleton Seafood Company for 32 years.
Hilma was preceded in death by: her parents, Charles and Vera Salmon; and siblings Author, Vincent, Egbert, Myrtle, Margaret and Pamela.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, including her husband of 50 years, Elroy McKenzie; children, Elaine McKenzie and Shane McKenzie (Cheryl); grandchildren, Lytia Brooks, Ryanne McKenzie, Wesley McKenzie, and Cameron Williams; siblings, Birdie Welch, Issac Salmon and Mary Salmon and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who were loved dearly.
Hilma’s remarkable journey through life, marked by her unwavering dedication to her family, will be celebrated and remembered by all whose lives she enriched. May her spirit continue to inspire love and kindness in those she leaves behind.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
