Mrs. Jamie Ann Kibler Obituary

Jamie Ann Kibler, 49, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and close friends.

Jamie Ann Kibler was born on April 23, 1976, in Goldsboro, NC, to her parents, Cleveland Simmons Sr. and Minnie Robinson Simmons. Jamie graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in Goldsboro, NC in 1994. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 2008 and her Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 2010 from the University of Phoenix.

She served as a Licensing Specialist at USAA for a decade, where she was known for her dedication and professionalism. Jamie believed in continual growth and never remaining stagnant in her career. In keeping with that spirit, she earned a Certificate in Business Analytics from the University of South Florida in 2024, furthering her commitment to lifelong learning and personal development.

Jamie married Douglas Kibler on June 8, 1997, and together they were blessed with two sons, Jahleel and D’Mareon.

Jamie became a member of the Chi Alpha Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. in the spring of 2010 in Arizona. She was the Chapter’s first initiate and was known as “Jazzy Blu.” As the only member inducted during her membership intake process, this did not stop her from becoming the best Zeta that she could be. Jamie served their Chapter in the capacity of Secretary and Fundraising Coordinator. In 2012, she transferred to the Missouri Zeta Chapter, where she served as their Undergraduate Advisor. Upon relocating to Tampa, FL, Jamie transferred her membership to Tau Pi Zeta Chapter of Riverview, where she was an active member until her passing. She served as the Chapter’s Secretary for two years, chaired the Founder’s Day Committee for two years, and participated in several committees, including Membership Intake Process, Reclamation, and Eldercare. Jamie was the Area V Secretary from 2021-2024 and served as the Secretary for the Tampa Chapter of the National Pan-Hellenic Council from 2018-2022.

Jamie was raised in the Holly Hill Disciples of Christ Church in La Grange, NC, where the foundation of her faith was nurtured from an early age. That spiritual grounding remained with her throughout her life. During her time in Tampa, Jamie was a member of New Saint Paul AME Church, where she served as their secretary. Recently, she became a member of Love First Christian Center Church in Riverview, FL, and continued to deepen her faith and service.

She was preceded in death by: her beloved mother, Minnie Elizabeth Simmons, in 1999.

She is survived by: her devoted husband, Douglas; loving sons, Jahleel and D’Mareon; father, Cleveland Simmons Sr. of Goldsboro, NC, who at 99 years old continues to be a pillar of strength for their family; one brother, Cleveland Simmons Jr. (Marta) of Kinston, NC; and three sisters, Diane Simmons Richardson (Stanley) of Newport News, VA; Rosetta Simmons Ferguson (Javell) of Phoenix, AZ; and Christina Simmons of Goldsboro, NC; and a host nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins.

Jamie was a beacon of compassion, laughter, and love. Her presence could light up any room, and her warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

“Though her smile is gone forever,

And her hand we cannot touch,

Still, we have so many memories

Of the one we loved so much.

Her memory is our keepsake,

With which we’ll never part.

God has her in His keeping,

We have her in our hearts.”
