Lolita Albertha Joseph was born on May 21, 1934, in Basseterre, St. Kitts-Nevis, West Indies, as the cherished only child of Maisie Agatha Williams and Elijah Matthew. She later relocated to Tampa, FL, where she resided for over 35 years and faithfully worked as a CNA and caregiver, touching the lives of many through her compassion and dedication.
Lolita was a woman of deep love, strength, and unwavering faith. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren wholeheartedly, always placing family at the center of her life. Her courage and steadfast trust in God remained evident throughout her life, especially during her final days, as she leaned on her faith and found peace in His promises.
She lived a life rich in love, faith, and devotion. Beyond her many accomplishments, Lolita found joy in life’s simple pleasures—sewing, singing in church, cooking, caring for others, serving on the Mother’s Board, and most importantly, cherishing time with her beloved family. She was a pillar of strength and resilience who instilled the values of hard work, compassion, and integrity in all who knew her.
Lolita was also a faithful and devoted member of New Life Tabernacle Church, where she served with love and commitment. She was well known for her generosity, discipline, and willingness to help others. Many remember her as someone who gave selflessly to anyone in need. Her legacy of kindness and service will forever be cherished.
She was preceded in death by: her children, Alexis “Bro. Al” Martin, Emile Browne, and Maisie Browne.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her loving children, Rudolph “Otis” Martin, Kanta Zamba, Reginald “Ras Regg” Martin, Elvis “Tusi” Martin, Prince Kalunda, Judette Joseph-Challenger, Claudette Joseph-Lattin, Heslin Reynolds, Oakland Browne, Vincent Browne, and Druzele Browne; along with 57 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
Our family is left with an indescribable void that cannot be filled. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Lolita knew she was deeply loved and that she had a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior. Her legacy of love, faith, and resilience will continue to live on through all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
