Mrs. Lorita Johnson

On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, Mrs. Lorita Johnson received her heavenly wings from our eternal father.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive AME Church, 1902 W. LaSalle St., Tampa, FL 33607 with Reverend Crystal Brown, Officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Lorita Johnson was born in Madison, Florida and has been a resident of Tampa for 60 years.  She graduated from Madison County Training School and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.  She was a Mathematics Teacher for over 25 years in Hillsborough County.  She was a dedicated member of Mt. Zion AME Church – Riverview until her health began to fail and she was no longer able to attend services.

Lorita was preceded in death by: her beloved family members including: her husband, Simon Johnson; daughter, Lanita B. Johnson Taylor; parents, Louis Frazier and Mary Frazier; brother Louis Frazier; and sister, Lorata Franklin.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories including: her sons, Sheldron T. Johnson, Morris M. Johnson, and Byron K. Johnson; grandchildren, Sheldron T. Johnson, Jr. and Simone A. Taylor; sisters, Mary (Edward) Palmer and Ida Jones; sister-in-law, Shellie (Lewis) Golden; brother-in-Law, Ponce Deleon Franklin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins as well as many other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
