Marie “Pie” Middleton passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026. A Celebration of Marie’s life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Refreshing Church, 2506 S. Parsons Avenue, Seffner, FL 33584, with Apostle Samuel L. Phillips, Senior, Officiating.
Marie “Pie” Middleton was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Helen and Charles Covington. She gave her life to Christ at age 12 at Evangelical Gospel Tabernacle in Bayonne, New Jersey. After moving to Florida, she continued her walk of faith as a member of Refreshing Church.
Marie married Barney Middleton on September 30, 1995. Together they built a family filled with love. She was a devoted mother to Micah and Jordane Middleton and lovingly welcomed Angela Covington and Brien Smith as her bonus children.
Creative and determined, Marie pursued many business ventures, including interior design, Marie’s Italian Ice, Organo Gold, and Kid’s Time Boutique. She also loved preparing meals and beautiful spreads for family gatherings, passing her recipes and cooking secrets to her children.
Marie made the people around her feel cared for, valued, and remembered. Her family and friends will treasure her generosity, her daily calls, her laughter, and the many memories they shared. Most of all, they will remember how freely she loved.
Marie was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Barney; her son, Rashad; her sisters, Carol and Diane Covington; her brothers, Charles and William Covington; and her nephews, William Covington Jr. and Ikeem O’Neil.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Micah Christian Middleton; daughter, Jordane Christiana Lenora Middleton; bonus children, Angela Covington and Brien Smith; brothers, Walter Covington and Corey Covington; godmother, Marion Thomas; sisters in Christ, Bonnie Anderson, and Doretha Belnavis; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
We will miss you, cherish you forever, and love you BIG TIME. Until we meet again, Pie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
