Mrs. Monica Marlinda Squires

Mrs. Monica Marlinda Squires of Tampa, FL passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606 with Pastor Prentiss Davis, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Monica Marlinda Squires was born in Barbados, West Indies on August 5, 1943. She was the beloved daughter of the late Gwendolyn and Alban Dottin. She had two sisters, Pamela Jefferson and Marguerite Taitt (deceased); and three late brothers, Alwyn, Allington, and Jeffery Dottin. In 1963, she married the late Harold Frank Squires, and they moved to Queens, New York, USA. The union produced one child, Harold Cavour Squires (deceased). In 1986, the family moved to Tampa, Florida, where she became a member of Mount Olive AME Church. She was an active member of her community, a beloved neighbor, friend, daughter, mother and grandmother. She continued her higher education in London, England and New York, USA, going on to work as a medical technologist at the James A. Haley Veteran’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida until retirement.

She leaves behind: her grandchildren, Cavour, Nigel, Malik, Zariya, Xavier Squires, and Jasmine Williams; great-grandchildren, Jamarion and I’yana Williams; daughter-in-law, Tisha Wilson; granddaughter-in-law, Shanise Anderson; brothers-in-law, Harcourt Taitt and Clarence Jefferson; nieces, Sonia Forde Taitt and Nakia Jefferson; nephews, Roderick Taitt, Glendon Dottin-Taitt, and Troy Taitt; and her extended family, Yvonne Welcome, Lisa Collins, the Morgan family, the Anderson family and many, many more.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
