Mrs. Patricia Ann Holmes Reid

Mrs. Patricia Ann Holmes Reid, affectionately called “Pat” by her family and friends, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, 4:30 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610 with Pastor Jared Green, Pastor of New Church of Faith Tampa, Officiant.

Patricia Ann Holmes Reid was born on August 13, 1954, in Quincy, Florida, to the late Sylvester Holmes and Mittie Williams Trotman. Patricia accepted the Lord and Savior at a young age and was baptized. She attended Gadsden County public school and graduated from Chattahoochee High School, in 1973. Pat continued her education with a second degree in 2019.

God blessed Patricia with three sons, Sylvester Byrd, Alexander Baker, and Norris Baker, Jr.

Pat was a hard worker and embarked on a career with the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida, until her retirement. After a demanding workday, Pat knew how to relax and unwind. She would go fishing, which she loved. She loved spending time cooking meals for her family and friends. Another thing Pat loved was pulling out her yarns and hooks to crochet. She would create a variety of items, including cozy blankets. If you knew Pat, that was her time of peace. Patricia later married Timothy Reid, whom she loved until his passing in May of 2016. 

Pat is preceded in death by: by her husband, Timothy Reid; father, Sylvester Holmes; mother, Mittie Williams Trotman; maternal grandparents, Alex Williams and Matilda Eggleton Davis; aunts; uncles; and granddaughter, Krishonda Mittie Byrd.

She leaves to cherish loving memories to: her sons, Sylvester Byrd (Cassandra),  Alexander Baker, and Norris Baker, Jr., (LaShae); brother, Terry Holmes (Carla); sisters, Shirley Holmes, Annette Bates, Lavern Nealy (Jessie), and Ethel Mae Shelters (Alex); grandchildren, Sylvester Byrd Jr., Alexander Byrd, Marissa Byrd, Lily Byrd, Jerrod Byrd, Antonio Byrd, Antwan Byrd, Antraveon Byrd, Alexis Baker, Au”Bryana Baker, Joshiah Rodgers, Rodrick Nelson, Jeremiah Nelson, Jordan Fleming, Jarek Fleming, Brielle Fleming, and Markell Whaley; great-grandchildren, Sylvester Byrd III, Alexander Byrd Jr., Alissa Byrd, Krishawanda Byrd, and Brianna Byrd; and a host of nieces, nephews, other sorrowing relatives, and dear friends.

A special thank you to her caretakers, LaShae Mitchell and Norris Baker Sr., her best friend.
