Mrs. Pearl Thomas

Mrs. Pearl Cannady Thomas of Tampa, FL passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Victory AME Church, 5202 S. 86th Street, Tampa, FL 33619 with Rev. Bouie, Officiant/Eulogist. Interment will follow in Hillsborough Memorial Gardens, 2323 W. Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511.

Pearl was born and raised in Savannah GA, one of nine children resulting from the union of Cornelius and Rose Cannady.  She attended public schools in Savannah. Pearl graduated from Beach High School and attended Savannah State College. Pearl has three surviving siblings Geri Lewis, Rose Jones, and Flory Ward who currently reside in the Savannah GA area.

On December 24, 1966, Pearl married Walter R. Thomas in Philadelphia PA. They are the parents of Troy Thomas, Tanya Lee, Denise Kimble, and Michael Thomas. The grandparents of Gabrielle Stockton, Lauren Stockton, Kennedy Kimble, Kyle Kimble, and Arianna Thomas. They are great-grandparents to Isaac Stockton.

During their marriage, the Thomas family resided in Pennsylvania, Arkansas, New Jersey, and Florida.

After moving to Florida Pearl became very active in the St. James AME Church where she sang in the church choir. Pearl was regular in attending church services until the Coronavirus epidemic. Pearl’s health had declined in recent years, and she suffered a fatal heart attack on March 12, 2025.

Pearl was a devoted wife and loving mother who left behind a host of grieving family members and friends, who will always remember her smiling face and lovely personality.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
