Mrs. Ruby Elizabeth Hoskins Morris of Tampa, FL passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 5909 Vel Street, Wimauma, FL 33598 with Reverend Elder Joseph L. Reed Jr., officiating.
Ms. Ruby Elizabeth Hoskins was born in Shelby, NC on February 3, 1930, to parents, David Hoskins and Virginia (Gill) Hoskins. Mrs. Ruby lived in Hartford, CT for over 40 years, then moved to Tampa Florida after retiring from the City of Hartford Social Services. Mrs. Ruby H. Morris was a resident of Tampa, FL for over 40 years. She was an accountant at ENS Electrical Services in Tampa where she retired for the 2nd time.
Mrs. Ruby Morris was affectionately called: Mommie, Mom, Momma Ruby, Aunt Ruby, Grandma Ruby, “Banana” and Nana. She remembered all of her family members including their names and voices. She celebrated her 94th birthday on February 3, 2024, surrounded by loving family and friends.
Mrs. Ruby Morris was preceded in death by: her husband, William Morris; parents; David and Virginia Hoskins; sister, Pauline Jewell; sisters-in-law, Fannie Mauldin and Naomi Willis; sons; Steven Ruffin and William (Billy) Johnson Jr; daughters; Sheila Davis and Belinda G. Ruffin; granddaughter, Tameka Knotts, grandson, Chango Peeler; great-grandson, Timothy Freeman Jr.; and great-great-grandson, Stevie Chisholm III.
Mrs. Ruby Morris leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Paula Johnson Lang, Gloria Rodgers, Kathy Chisholm, Janice Peeler, Kutaka Ruffin, and Tracye Ruffin (Sandra); sons, Roger Ruffin (Brinda), David Johnson, and Joseph Johnson; sons- in-law, Deacon Stevie Chisholm Sr., Reverend John Lang, and Deacon James Rodgers; sister-in-law, Sarah Hicks; 39 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who loved her dearly.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 5909 Vel Street, Wimauma, FL 33598 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
