Sarah Harris Martin (Carswell) passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Cathedral, 3401 Bishop Eddie Newkirk Way, Tampa, FL 33605, with Pastor Evan Burrows, Officiating.
Sarah Harris Martin (Carswell) was a native of Isola, Mississippi. She attended Humphreys County High School in Belzoni, MS, and later moved to Tampa, Florida, where she remained a resident for 46 years. For many of those years, Sarah dedicated herself to the care of others, working as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her profession was a true reflection of her character; she was kind, generous, and truly had a heart of gold.
Sarah was known by all for her infectious smile and her genuine love for helping those in need. She was deeply spiritual and found great joy in her faith. She spent much of her time in Bible study and found peace and strength in reading her Bible. A faithful member of First Baptist Church of College Hill, Sarah lived a life of service and devotion before her passing on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Stella Mae Harris; her father, McKinley Moore Sr.; her husband, Minister Alfred Carswell Jr.; her grandchildren, Byron Harris and Bonita Adams; her sister, Ethel Harris; her brothers, James Harris, McKinley Moore Jr. and Larry Harris.
She is Survived By: her daughter, Terry Lynn Harris; sons, Jerry Wayne Harris, Timmy Terrell Harris (Sheila), Lorenzo Carswell, and Antonio Carswell; granddaughters, Cierra Giddens (Ryan) and Michaela Johnson; grandson, Wesley Gowdy; brother, Johnny Moore; nieces, Jackie Moore (Will), Melesa Harris, Carlesa Harris, and Tammie Brownlee; childhood friends, Hattie Washington and Calvin Watson; special friend, Tomika Lemons and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. John Cathedral, 3401 Bishop Eddie Newkirk Way, Tampa, FL 33605.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Harris Martin will be live-streamed on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
