Ms. Sharon Keaton McKennon of Tampa, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Tyer Temple United Methodist Church, 3305 N. 15th Street, Tampa, FL 33605, with Rev. Dr. Harold Lewis Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.
Sharon Keaton McKennon was born on December 28, 1947, in Tampa, FL. Sharon McKennon was a native of Hillsborough County and a resident of Tampa for 77 years. She attended Howard W. Blake High School, graduating with the Class of ’65. Later in life, she graduated from the University of Tampa, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in 2003. She was a member of the Tyer Temple United Methodist Church Women’s group. She retired from Lockheed Martin.
She is preceded in death by: her father, Robert Keaton; her mother, Beatrice Thomas Keaton; and her siblings, Frieda Keaton and Brenda Keaton Hardaway.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved twin sons, Zedric McKennon (Emilia) of Moyock, NC, and Kedric McKennon; granddaughters, Sharon N. McKennon and Jasmine McKennon; step grandson, Gustavo Diaz (Angelica) of Orlando, FL; great grandson, Gustavo Diaz Jr.; nephews, Terence Ferguson (Twyler) of North Lauderdale, FL, Napoleon Laws of Rome, GA, Zabrein Hardaway (Chris), and Antwan Hardaway (Shereeka); niece, Tracy Holmes (Chancey); cousins, Inez Gray of Cleveland, OH, Janice Miller, Glenda Wiggins-Washington, Jacqueline Wiggins Coleman (Ronald), Renaye Wiggins-Montgomery, Tonja Wiggins Howard (David) of Savannah, GA, Subrina Patterson (Peter), Inga Patterson, Ona Patterson, Akita Patterson of Atlanta, GA, Justin Coleman, and Same Miller (Tramane); great-nieces Kwishia Hardaway, Brianna Hardaway, Zamaria Hardaway; great-nephews, Zabrein Hardaway Jr., Aaron Hardaway, and Zae’Quan Hardaway; godson, Justin Bryan; like a daughter, Janice Robertson; lifelong friends, Ouida Hilton, Mary Thomas; close friends, Maggie Miles of Tarpon Springs, FL, Lois White, Barbara Simmons, Barbara Hudson, and Tyer Temple UMC family; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
