It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Teressa A. Hatchett, who transitioned peacefully from this life on May 15, 2025.
Born in Wetumpka, Alabama, Teressa Hatchett later made her home in Washington, D.C., where she was educated at Garrison Elementary and Francis Jr. High School. Then transitioning to Tampa, Fl where she spent the rest of her life. She eventually retired from a dedicated career with U-Haul Moving & Storage.
A faithful member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Teressa served joyfully on the Usher Committee under the leadership of Pastor Kaleb D. Barnum. Her warm spirit, kind heart, and radiant smile were known and loved by all who met her.
Teressa was a woman of strength and compassion, often found on Saturdays before her illness setting up at the Funland Flea Market, where she enjoyed connecting with others and sharing her talents. Her giving nature touched many, and her presence brought joy and comfort to family, friends, and her community.
As we celebrate Teressa’s life, let us reflect on the joy she brought into our lives. Though we grieve, we take comfort in knowing that God’s plan for her is greater than we can imagine. Let us continue pressing on, inspired by her memory and strengthened by her legacy.
She was preceded in death by: her beloved husband, Vincent Hatchett; her parents, Leila Mae Butler and Henry Hugley; her sister, Gail Robinson; and her brothers, Robert Butler, Edward Blair Butler, and Steven Butler.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her loving son, Henry S. Butler; her sister, Melinda Johnson (John); her brothers, Cleveland Butler, McKinley Butler, Willie Butler, and Fred Robinson Jr.; a devoted host of nieces including, Felicia, Sharon, Julisa, Brittany, Erica, Doris, Tasha, Tara, Tonya, Cynthia, Shaneka, Katrina, and Kendra; nephews Micheal, Ronald, Melvin, Eric, Mark, Gerald, and Adam; one cherished grandchild; and a host of many great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless other loving family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
