Mrs. Vickie Young Obituary

Vickie Felice Young, affectionately known as “Vickie” of Tampa, FL, departed this life on Saturday, November 1, 2025, surrounded by love and laughter, just as she lived her life.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at  St. John Cathedral Church, 3401 Bishop Eddie Newkirk Way, Tampa, FL 33605 with Reverend Doctor Keith Haygood of Highland Missionary Baptist Church, Officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Vickie was born on October 13, 1957, in Sarasota, Florida, to James Perkins and La-Verne Hughes.  Vickie, a proud graduate of King High School, Class of 1975, was an active participant in track and field, displaying early signs of her fearless and go-getter attitude. In her youth, she was also a model, gracing every room she entered with confidence, beauty, and charisma wherever she went. Vickie started her journey as a Princess in Louise Payne Guild #23, HOTC, then went on to be a Herione, in Tabitha Court #15, she became a Daughter, of Harram Court #96, and lastly a Loyal Lady in Electa Assembly. She was a proud member of each organization she was a part of.

Vickie, known for her honesty, humor, and heart, built a successful career in customer service. Her retirement from Humana in 2018 left behind friends and coworkers who admired her work ethic and unforgettable spirit.

Vickie was the life of the party—never shy, always smiling, and full of energy. She loved to dance, laugh, and enjoy life to the fullest. Whether she was cracking jokes, telling it like it is, or showing off her moves, she made sure everyone around her felt alive and loved.

Vickie Felice Young was bold, beautiful, and unapologetically herself. She lived life with passion, loved without limits, and danced through life with joy. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, her spirit continues to move through the rhythm of our laughter, the warmth of our memories, and the love she left behind.

Vickie was preceded in death by:  her daughter, Tyenie Nakia Greene; father, James Perkins; mother, La-Verne Morris; stepfather, Anderson Morris; brother, Charles Hughes, sisters, Bonita Norton and Sheila Taylor; and stepbrothers, Reginald Wilcox and Terry Morris.

She leaves to cherish her memory:  her devoted husband, Valvillis Young I; loving children, Va’Nesa (Herbert) Montgomery, Valvillis (Erica) Young II, Tatanisha (Jermaine) Dixon, and Amondo Lark; precious grandchildren, Jaxson Young, Nova Montgomery, Amir Watts, Valentino Young, Wrightney Aricy, Alana Bennett, Azuree Dixon, Alexei Dixon, Danajae Lark, Taurice Lark, and Amondo Lark Jr.; siblings, Cornelius (Velma) Hughes, Brenda (Dwight) Davis, Arvin (Joyce) Morris and Kenny Perkins; along with countless nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Her beloved circle of close friends: Tamara Brown, Plashetta Jones, Virginia Carter, Jacque Williams, Beralicia Herrera, Miguel Herrera, Jakeline Morales, Carolina Herrera, Bertha Baker, Greta Wilson Powell, Andreatha Freeman, Karen Keith, and Charlene Jones will forever remember her laughter, loyalty, and love of life.
