Ms. Alberta DeLaughter Obituary

Ms. Alberta DeLaughter of Tampa, FL, passed away on Wednesday, July 23. 2025. A Homegoing Celebration Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the House of God Church, 2909 N. 29th Street, Tampa, FL 33605, with Pastor Wanda Wilson, Senior Pastor, serving as the Eulogist. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.

Ms. Alberta was born on February 6, 1939, in Madison, FL, to the late Lonnie DeLaughter and Cora Sims Wade. She was educated in the Madison County School District. Alberta worked for many years in housekeeping at Holiday Inn until her retirement. Alberta was a faithful member of the House of God Church, Pastor Wanda Wilson, Senior Pastor. Alberta loved and served God with all of her heart.  She loved her pastor, her church family, and spoke well of them often.  Alberta also loved to travel and attend family events to spend time with her family. Her departure has created a void in each of us that only God can fill.

Alberta was preceded in death by: her father, Lonnie DeLaughter; her mother, Cora Smis Wade; her sons, David Hall and Anthony Hall; her sisters, Lizzie Williams, Maryann Robinson, Sara Massaline, Beatrice Massaline, Bestie Johnson, and Louetta Brown; and brothers, J.W. DeLaughter, Arthur DeLaughter, and George Brown.

Left to cherish her memories are: her sons, Sherman Hall, Stanley Haines, and Charles Haines of Lake Placid; her devoted cousin who was like a daughter, Gloria DeLaughter Jones (Ronald); nieces, Betty Jean DeLaughter, Stephanie Crumity, and Dara Walton; nephews, Dr. Gianni Jackson, Robert Lee DeLaughter, Dexter Massaline, Reggie Major, Fred Massaline, Sam Massaline, and Alvin Massaline; cousins, Roberta and Frank Robinson, Cecil DeLaughter, Lenora D. Clark, Dr. Claudia D. Dozier (Dr. Thomas), Twonda D. Ball, and The Jones Family; and a host of relatives and friends.

 The family and friends are asked to meet at the church for the homegoing service on Saturday. The family will receive friends at the repast at the church.
