Ms. Corene Williams Collins Obituary

Ms. Corene Williams Collins of Tampa, FL passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Funeral Services will be held next Thursday, December 12, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive AME Church, 1902 W LaSalle St., Tampa, FL 33607 with Presiding Elder Gregory V. Gay, Sr., Officiating.

Ms. Corene Williams Collins was a native of Donaldsonville, GA, and a resident of Tampa for over 60 years. She attended Howard W. Blake High School (C/O ’65) and received her B.A from Florida A&M University and her M.A from Rutgers University. She was a faithful member of Mt. Olive AME Church, a charter member of TOBA, a founding member of the Gamma Omicron subordinate member boule of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity Inc., a member of the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, Hillsborough Alliance, JWB board member, Former President and faithful member of the Howard W. Blake C/O ’65 Alumni Association and many more. She retired after a successful Administrative/Director career in Florida and Texas at Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties, USF, and TSU.

She was preceded in death by: her son, Dr. Craig Bythewood.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Kisten Corene Collins (Tampa, Florida); bonus children, John Wise Jr., and Charlene Dorsey (Tampa); granddaughters, Mecca, Nilaja, and Nielle Bythewood (Craig), Alexis Sealey (Charlene), John Taylor, and Jada Wise (John Wise Jr.); life partner, Mitch Harvey; brothers and sisters, Fred Hopkins of Riverdale, GA, Mamie Brown of Thomasville, GA, Ira Brown of Tallahassee, FL, Sallie Jane (Troy), Anderson and Benjamin (Cathy Brown) of Thomasville, GA, Nathaniel Brown of Orlando, FL, and Fredrick Brown of  Clearwater, Fl; godbrother, Paul Samson of Orlando, FL; loving cousins from the Allen Williams family; Blake High School C/O 1965; and a host of loving and sorrowing family and friends.

A Visitation will be held next Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
