Ms. Frances Mae Burton

Ms. Frances Mae Burton of Tampa, FL, peacefully closed her eyes on Thursday, September 18, 2025.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606, with Reverend James Thompkins, Eulogist.

Frances was born in Quitman, GA and was a native of Tampa, FL for 65 years.  She was educated in the Hillsborough County School System and graduated from Brandon High School in 1970.  She was employed by Jim Walters Corporation and retired from Hillsborough County Children's Services after more than 30 years of dedicated service.

She later joined the church and was baptized at First Union Missionary Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Charlie and Mae Francis Thompkins; siblings, Johnnie Balkmon, T.J. Thompkins, Mary Alice Davis and Donald Thompkins.

She is survived by: her husband of 44 years, Mr. Adele Burton; children, Undrea Johnson, Sirtegra Bell and Terrell Burton (Laresha); siblings, Gloria Ann Williams (Robert) of  Raleigh, NC, Gladys Tyson (Glen), Timothy Thompkins, and James Thompkins (Cookie) of Tampa, FL;  in-laws, Ernestine Rucker of Texas, Henry Burton, Lillie Burton, Elijah Burton (Brenda), Albert Burton (Geraldine), and Gertrude Singletary of Michigan; extended family includes, grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends,  and special friends, Margaret Butler, Debbie Streeter and Mary T.  

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
