Ms. Gwendolyn Freeman of Tampa, FL, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606, with Pastor Larry Roundtree, II, Officiating.
Ms. Gwendolyn Freeman was a native of Tampa and a resident for 73 years. She graduated from Howard W. Blake High School, Class of 1970. She furthered her education at Hillsborough Community College, where she earned an Associate in Arts degree. She was a member of New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, with Reverend Larry Roundtree, II serving as pastor. She retired from AAA, where she worked as a clerk.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ceola Washington and her father, Harold Wilson.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted daughter, Madeline C. Woodard; son, Samuel T. Washington (Rayshell); stepsons, Jordan Woodard (Quail) and Chris Scott; grandchildren, Nykolle and Ashley Washington, Janae Harrison (Cherie), Inaz Washington, Tyree Daniels, Deonte, Jacquari and Jaleza Washington (Cathy), Akiera Washington, Ashliegh Rodriguez (Cecelia); great grandchildren, Kovu Pujols, Amara Woodard, Jade and McKenzie White, and JoAnn Turnipseed; sisters, Laura Williams, Rosita Baker, and Judy Williams (Charlie); brothers, Harold Wilson (Helen), Curley Wilson (Rowena), Albert Wilson (Caretha), and Tyrone Wilson; Godsons, Marcus Johnson and Zachary Griffin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
