Ms. Hazel Gardner Denson

On Saturday, October 14, 2023, Hazel G. Denson departed this life to be with the Lord peacefully in the comfort of her home in Riverview, Florida. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Allen Temple AME Church, 2101 N. Lowe Street, Tampa, FL 33605, Rev. Dr. Glenn Dames, Jr., Pastor with Superintendent Clethen U. Sutton, Pastor of Miracle Temple Church of God and Christ, Tampa, FL. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Hazel G. Denson affectionately known as Honey was born on July 17, 1947, to the late Fred and Estella Gardner in Tampa, Florida.  She graduated in the Class of 1965 from Howard W. Blake.  As a Mastered Hairstylist with over 40 years of experience creating healthy beautiful hairstyles, she proudly owned Total Hair Care.

Hazel lived her life to the fullest and gave to anyone that was in need.  Her home was a safe haven for her children’s friends.  They all called her mom.  She never met a stranger that she did not consider a friend.  To love her dearly would require that we all let her go to rest in peace.

She was preceded in death by: her son, Earl Creary; grandson, Kendrick Denson; brothers, Fred Gardner, Jimmie Gardner, Robert Gardner, Mose Gardner, Leon Gardner, and Webster Gardner; and sisters, Annie Tate and Marion Smith.

Hazel leaves to cherish in her memories: her loving children, Connie Smith (Enoch), Effren Denson (Sandra), and Jonathan Denson; grandchildren, Taylor Dorismond (Sam), Najja Denson, Pascale Denson, Jaela Denson, Gaelle Denson, Giselle Denson, Jiana Denson, Jaiah Denson, and Mason Denson; great-grandchildren, Amias Denson, Alaia Denson, and Nasir Ali; Ex-Husband, Isell Denson; sisters, Lillie R. Cobb, Geraldine Randall, Berthenia Fields (Edward), and Barbara Gibbs (Frankie).  She has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends that will miss her tremendously.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
