Ms. Josephine Welch Jenkins of Tampa, Florida, peacefully transitioned on Thursday, December 25, 2025. A woman of unwavering faith, boundless energy, and infectious humor, Josephine touched countless lives throughout her remarkable journey. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606, with Reverend Eric Davis, Sr., Officiating.
Ms. Jenkins was born in Gainesville, Florida and was a resident of Tampa for over 70 years. She attended Middleton High School and Florida A&M University.
Josephine dedicated 46 years to serving children and families in the Hillsborough County School District, excelling in Pupil Accounting Administrative Services. Her commitment ensured every student was properly accounted for, reflecting her strong care for her community.
A devoted member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Josephine's faith was the foundation of her life. She found joy in worship, fellowship, and serving others, and was always ready with a warm smile and an encouraging word.
Josephine, with her zest for life, was an inspiration to all who knew her. For over 50 years, she was a fixture in the bowling community, not only competing in leagues but also sharing her love of the sport by teaching children to bowl. Her active lifestyle included walking and exercising regularly, as she believed in taking care of the temple God gave her and did so with enthusiasm and that signature sense of humor that could light up any room.
Josephine leaves to cherish her precious memory: her beloved daughter, Denise Jenkins Link-Hahn; two devoted sons, Brian Jenkins and Wilburt Jenkins; grandchildren, Christina Link, Michael Link, Joshua Wheat, Tony DeRico and Hunter Jenkins; brother, Peter Welch; along with a host of extended family and dear friends whose lives she enriched with her love, laughter, and wisdom.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Ashley Thomas, Josephine's Certified Nurse Assistant, whose compassionate care, tender spirit, and unwavering devotion brought comfort and dignity to her final days. Her love and dedication went far beyond duty, providing not just exceptional care but becoming a cherished part of our family during this sacred journey.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33606.
