Ms. Karetta Alexander Obituary

Mother Karetta Baker Alexander passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022, 11 a.m. at Allen Temple AME Church, 2101 Lowe Street Tampa, FL 33605, Rev. Doctor Glenn B. Dames Jr., Pastor with Bishop Melvin Lee, Officiating. The Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mother Karetta Baker Alexander was born in Quincy, Florida on September 17, 1931, to the late Charlie Baker and Ella Mae Baker. She was reared in Panama City, Florida and obtained her education through the Bay County Public School System. In 1957, she moved to Tampa, Florida. Mother Alexander was a member of Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, and her previous church home was with the Apostolic Church of Jesus where she ushered for 36 years and baked delicious cakes, pies and sold frozen cups for various fundraising goals on behalf of the church. She was a loving Homemaker, a Foster Parent, and an in-home daycare provider to the children of young mothers in the neighborhood who were pursuing their education.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Deacon John Lee Alexander; son, James Earl Sessions; foster daughter, Mary Frances Robinson; parents; siblings, Henry Baker, Alberta Baker, and Amelia Baker Gayle; nephews, Joshua Johnson, and Ronnie Johnson; niece, Jeannie Johnson Williams; son-in-law, Leroy Green; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Williams, Louise Hardy, Rosalee Armstead, Corrine Jackson and Ernestine Alexander; brother-in-laws, Woodrow Alexander, Bishop Walter Williams, Deacon David Armstead Sr., and Elder James Hardy; cousins, Mazalene Golden, and James Edward Harris; a very close and dear friend, Mother Willie Mae Rawls; and Godson, Roderick Faison.

She leaves to cherish her memories with: her loving & caring children, Johnny Frank Sessions (Linda), Anita Green, Jerry Ann Norton (Joseph), Delphine (Gregory), and Ilene Lane (Dennis); foster sons, Craig Leonard Johnson, Michael McKinnie (Erica), and Garland Thomas; foster daughter, Sharon McKinnie; sister in law, Sue Alexander; brother in law, Bishop Roosevelt Alexander; Godson, Frankie Solomon Sr. (Susie); very close and dear friend, Mother Alma Solomon; grandchildren, Tomeka Truesdell (Gary), Johnny Sessions Jr.(Tonya), Marcus Session (Jillian), Leslie A Brooks(Yvette), Sergeant Major Edward Martez Hearn, Ebony Green, Samuel Leroy Green (Kanisha), Karetta Monique Green-Hill (Marquis), Janelle C. Mond, Jerlaine C. Beckwith, John Chandler (Ebony), Kennetha Warren, Cleveland Alexander, Teresa Sessions Burden, Queen Elizabeth Sessions, Nekuana Sessions, and James E. Sessions Jr.; great grandchildren, Leslie A, Brooks Jr. (Debrena), Antonio Marquis Brooks, Dasean Brooks, Jordan Brooks, Ida Hearn, Sara Hearn, Savannah Hearn, Camille Sessions, Caden Sessions, Samuel J. The visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.  MASK RECOMMENDED.
