Ms. Karon Murdock Hester Obituary

Ms. Karon Murdock Hester of Tampa, FL departed this earthly life on Friday August 22, 2025. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, 9:00 a.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Karon Murdock Hester was born on November 11, 1958, in Tampa, FL to the late Johnnie Murdock and Lillie Mae Stubbs. She attended the public schools of Hillsborough County and graduated from Robinson High School. She was an exceptionally talented athlete and participated in track and field. She was known to be one of the fastest in the county.

After graduation she moved to Stockton, California and became a mother to the late Michael Bolden. While living in California she encountered medical issues resulting in her return to Florida. While here, she became a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. church. She found joy in cooking and preparing meals for holidays and family get-togethers. Although she was reserved, she was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and faith.

She was preceded in death by: her son, Michael Bolden; mother, Lillie Mae Stubbs; father, Johnnie Murdock; grandmother, Pearl Williams; aunt, Diane Young (Roy Young); nephew, O.J. Murdock; and sister-in-law, Delores Lovett.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two loving grandchildren, Michael Bolden Jr. and Maliek Bolden (California); brothers, Kelvin Murdock, Derrick Lovett, Thomas Murdock, and  Anthony Murdock (California); nieces, Kerri Murdock and Sherena Murdock; nephews, Derrick Lovett Jr., Darius Lovett, and Sherod Murdock; uncle, Willie Willams; aunt, Jeannete Solomon (Ivory Sr.); great aunt, Ervin Lopez; cousins, Rev. Roy Young Jr. (India), La’shon Reid (the late James Reid), Ivory Solomon Jr., and Alma Jean Baity; and a host of other loving cousins, relatives, friends, and classmates.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
