Today, we gather to celebrate and honor the life of our beloved Loraine. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we rejoice in the beautiful legacy she leaves behind—a legacy filled with love, laughter, style, and unwavering generosity.
Loraine’s journey began on December 13, 1957, in the Comfort Castle area of Portland, Jamaica. Raised by her grandmother, she grew up surrounded by family and faith, attending the local Seventh-day Adventist church with her cousins and loved ones. Even from a young age, Loraine carried with her a warmth and light that would define a life that would touch countless others.
She attended Portland High School and, after graduation, moved to Kingston. There, she worked at Oceana Hotel and later at the well-known Genus Pharmacy.
Always seeking to grow, Loraine pursued advanced education in England, spending six months abroad before returning to Jamaica. In 1991, Loraine married Edgerton Osbourne, and together they share their greatest blessing- their daughter, Nadine.
Her journey eventually took her to New York and Connecticut, where she dedicated herself to in-home nursing jobs, caring for others with compassion.
In 1994, Loraine moved to Florida, where her career blossomed. After working in several clinics, she found her true home at Baycare in 2006. For 19 years, Loraine was the heart and soul of Baycare’s HR department. She wasn’t just an employee—she was a friend, a confidant, and a guide. Many lovingly called her “the mayor,” because she was a natural leader who treated everyone with kindness.
But Loraine was more than her career. She was the life of the party. Her joy was contagious, her laughter unforgettable, and her presence impossible to ignore.
She was known for her incredible sense of fashion—capable of transforming even the simplest t-shirt into a vibrant creation. Her style, much like her spirit, was bold, unique, colorful and full of life.
Of all her roles, none was more important to her than being a mother and grandmother. She shared a deep bond with her daughter Nadine and her “son-in-love” Jonas. Her grandchildren—Nadjay, Jayde, Jonaya, Joshua, and Jonathan—were her pride and joy. Loraine poured her heart into them, and she never missed an opportunity to brag about their accomplishments. Their love was mutual, their bond unshakable.
In addition to her daughter, son-in-love and grandchildren, Loraine is survived by her loving mother, Linda White, her sister Angela, and her brothers Byron and Danny Phillips. She will also be remembered by the countless friends and colleagues whose lives she touched with her generosity, her humor, and her love for people.
Loraine had the heart of a giver exemplified by the countless stories of meals and treats that she would whip up for friends at a moment’s notice.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her incredible spirit remains. She will live on in the laughter of her grandchildren, the warmth of her siblings, in the smile and dimples of her only daughter, and in the countless hearts she touched during her brief journey here on Earth.
Today, we say farewell to Loraine—but we do not say goodbye. May her light continue to shine brightly in all of us. May we honor her by living with the same sense of love, generosity, and joy that she so freely gave.
