Ms. Mary LouRainey Davis of Tampa, FL, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606, with Evangelist Luis R. Lugo, officiating. Interment will follow on Monday, August 4, 2025, in Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513.
Mary was born on February 4, 1952, to the late David E. Davis, Sr., and the late Mary Lee Thompson-Davis in Tampa, Florida. She was the youngest of five children from this union. A lifelong resident of Tampa, Mary graduated from H.B. Plant High School in 1970 and earned a B.S. in Accounting from Florida A&M University in 1974. In 1975, she joined the U.S. Army, serving three years in Germany as a finance specialist. After her military service, she worked as a claims adjuster for State Farm before starting her own childcare business, where she found her true passion in serving children and families. Ms. Davis accepted Christ as her lord and Savior in April of 2002 and was baptized into the body of Christ at Highland Ave Church of Christ under the leadership of Evangelist Orum L Trone Sr.
She was preceded in death by: her only brother, David E. Davis Jr.; her two sisters, Dorothy Kemp and Nancy Dawson; her brothers-in-law, James Dawson Sr. and Louis Curington; and her lifelong friends, Cassie Wilson and Earlene Weaver-Tomlinson.
She leaves behind: her devoted sister, Delgrettia Curington; and niece, Stefani Curington, both of whom cared for her in her later years. Also left to cherish her memory are: her brother-in-law, Alton Kemp; aunt, Susan Lindsey of Akron, Ohio; nieces and nephew, Paula Holland (Ron), David E. Davis IV, Evangeline Dawson, Felicia Davis, Erica Johnson (Kenneth), Hillary Sweeney, Anica Upson, and Ekecia Grayson; sixteen great nieces and nephews; seven great great nieces and nephews; goddaughters, Monya, Kellie, and Tracee; and a host of other sorrowing family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 01, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
