Ms. Tonya Deneen Brooks

Ms. Tonya D. Brooks of Tampa, FL, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church, 2709 N. 25th Street, Tampa, FL 33605, with Reverend K. R. Bogen, Officiating.

Ms. Tonya D. Brooks was a native of Ponce D. Leon in Tampa, FL and a resident of the city for 61 years. She attended Hillsborough High School and a local Beauty School and was a member of St. Luke AME Church. She was employed as a Custodian at Tampa General Hospital before retiring from the University of South Florida and as a home-based Hairstylist for many years.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Deeniva Brooks and Preston (Audresha) Lawrence; goddaughter, Toyneila McCray; grandchildren, Zsaudia Brooks, Kaelani Kellum, Karmin Lawrence, Ayia Thompkins, Jnora Brooks, Nevaeh Lawrence, Zyo’n Thompkins, and Melodii Lawrence; sisters, Gloria Mills and Tanya; brothers, John Brooks and Chris Brooks; and a plethora of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
