Ms. Valarie Rene Johnson

Ms. Valarie R. Johnson of Tampa, FL, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Allen Temple AME Church, 2101 N. Lowe Street, Tampa, FL 33605, with Reverend Dr. Glenn B. Dames, Jr., Officiating.  Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Ms. Valarie, a native of Tampa, resided in the Central Park and West Tampa Communities for 69 years.

She attended Meacham Elementary School, Robert E. Lee Elementary School, and George Washington Jr. High School before graduating from Plant High School. She went on to further her education at Hillsborough Community College and Florida A&M University.

Valarie was a devoted member of Allen Temple AME Church, where she also sang in the Gospel Choir.

Throughout her career, she served as a teacher in Hillsborough County Schools, worked as a youth childcare provider at Joshua House, the Boys and Girls Club, and the Parks and Recreation Department, and later held a managerial position at Hertz.

She leaves to cherish her memory:  her son, Jeremy Jones; brothers, Keith B. Johnson and Kim M. Johnson; special daughter, Brandy Rutledge; nephews, Jivaro J. Johnson, and Keissan A. Johnson; great nieces and nephews, Tyyuana Johnson, Adalis Johnson, Ziann Johnson, Deonte Hairston, Saivon Johnson, Jiais Johnson, Kaz Johnson, and Javier Johnson; special sisters, Sandra Butler and Sheila Thomas; special brother, Grover Cochrane, Jr.; special cousins, Cynthia Cochrane, Edwina Fields, Samara Fencher, Essie Pearl Mobley, Celeste Judge, and Sheila Gatson; special nephews, Garland Cochrane, Grover Cochrane III and Ron Groverfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Allen Temple AME Church, 2101 N Lowe Street, Tampa, FL 33605.
